History Study Group

The MISF History Study Group will meet again on Saturday, January 28, at 10:00 am in the Catherine Ann Forster Huber Conference Room on the third floor of the Central Library in downtown Minneapolis (room N-304). There is parking under the library for $5 on Saturdays. Enter on 4th St.

For this meeting, we are going to look at some recent history, namely, the collapse of the economy in 2008 and its causes. There have been several very good books written on the topic, but one of the most recommended is All the Devils Are Here: The Hidden History of the Financial Crisis by Bethany McLean and Joe Nocera. The Huffington Post said it was the best business book of 2010. This book has some other things going for it. It assumes you are not economically sophisticated, but it doesn't dumb down for its readers. And it's available in paperback. It can be found for less than $12 in paperback and for about $10 in ebook format. You can even get an audiobook edition for $24. We will cover the first half of the book, through chapter 12.
