We will conclude our discussion of the book 1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created, by Charles Mann. The last parts of the book return to the subject of the conquest of the Americas by the conquistadors (including Balboa's discovery of the Pacific Ocean; clearly, the natives never knew it was there), as well as a discussion of sugar.
The stories here are – and I won't sugarcoat this – not all complimentary to our European ancestors. But they make great reading.
